About Me
I work as an interior designer, after studying at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in London. However, my interest also lies in producing pieces of modern, contemporary art. I think that colour is a powerful tool to be reckoned with and by using a combination of techniques, can create illusions of another time!
My favourite mediums are acrylics, oils and creating textures in different forms. In some of my artwork, I have used stainless steel, electric wiring, string and plaster paris. My work is mainly painted on gallery wrapped stretched boxed canvas - which does not need framing and looks brilliant on a plain wall. However, if you would like a piece of artwork framed then please let me know.
Each of my paintings are unique and original. I will accept commissions if you want that 'something different' for your office, home, restaurant or bar.
I was born in Boston, Lincolnshire and moved to Nottinghamshire in England when I was 17 years old and lived there until I moved to Alicante, Spain in 2003 where I took up art more seriously. Like many artists who live and work in Spain, the sea and landscape with its unique light is inspirational.
I am a self taught artist and did not begin to paint until I was 50 years old. So.... there is hope for all of us! My art began by accident as I also work as an Interior Designer and do Decorative Painting Techniques for walls, doors and Hand Painted Furniture using my own unique French Antique Style also faux marbling and colour-washing. When one of my customers asked me if I could do her a piece of artwork to finish off her newly decorated lounge so I thought I would have a go. Needless to say she consequently purchased!
I paint mainly using acrylics, but have done the odd one in oils. My work is mainly done to enhance interiors and if you have a spare blank wall above a sofa etc. or you would like to brighten the office or restaurant – and you require an affordable piece of art then I like to think that one of my pieces would fit that criteria. I try to create works that reflect the life, colours, forms, mood and light seen in the sky as well as semi-abstracts.
